One Thing (Remains) - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

One Thing (Remains)
Now Think On This
Steve Martin

Passion worship music, much like Jesus Culture, Bethel, Elevation, United and MorningStar today, encourages many. with their love. It is great to see the next generation praise and worship the Father God and His Son Jesus as they give thanks and acknowledge the True King.

I like most of the songs these ministries produce, as much as I did of those I loved (and still do) back in the day. Songs by Integrity Music’s Hosanna!, especially Don Moen and Paul Wilbur; Vineyard, with the ones by David Ruis and Andy Park; and Hillsongs, with Darlene Zschech leading the worship singing songs written by Morgan Rueben. Anything that focuses on and draws one’s heart and spirit into the worship of the Lord Jesus touches my heart. It is because Holy Spirit is expressing His love.

Kristian Stanfill with Passion sings the song “One Thing Remains” (2012). I am sure I first heard it on the radio shortly thereafter, and bought the CD.  Being I wanted something physical in my hands, I didn’t just download the MP3 version. And now, after putting it on my laptop and uploading it to the “cloud”, to have it for listening on my smartphone also, I take it with me wherever I go. Kinda like American Express, for those who never used to leave home without it.

In the song “One Thing Remains”, the lyrics state love never fails. Never gives up. On and on it goes. So Kristian declares as he fills the air with truth. He is proclaiming Christ, the Messiah.

Love has been given many descriptions over the centuries, as we attempt to understand its place in our lives and the value we attribute to it. You can love your dog, love your job (I hope), love your NFL team, and some love the ground they walk on. In varying degrees and with all kinds of expressions, we try to show forth love.

But the love that will endure forever, the love that we continually grasp for as we attempt to fill our heart with many things in the name of love, only comes from God. Because God IS love.

Open His heart. There is love. Listen to His voice. There is love. Observe how He moves in the lives of you, me, and people of the world. There is love. Jesus (Yeshua) calls us to share His eternal love with others. The love that lays down his life for his friends. As He did.

A prophetic man by the name of Bob Jones (now with the Lord in heaven) was asked once by the Lord Himself, “Did you learn to love?” I knew Bob, and heard him talk about that question in the MorningStar meetings where he spoke and we attended. I think maybe even he had to stop and think at first what really the Lord was asking of him at that time. Did the love Bob give match the love the Lord had given to him, for him to share with those he encountered?

From what others have said, and what I observed, I think Bob did before his passing. He left a love that remained, and now it bears fruit in the lives of those who received it.

In 2002 Don Moen recorded the song, “When It’s All Been Said and Done” on his Thank You Lord (Integrity Music 2004) project I share the lyrics for you to consider how we live our life, and share His love with others.

"When It's All Been Said And Done"
When it's all been said and done
There is just one thing that matters
Did I do my best to live for truth?
Did I live my life for you?

When it's all been said and done
All my treasures will mean nothing
Only what I've done for love's reward
Will stand the test of time

Lord, your mercy is so great
That you look beyond our weakness
And find purest gold in miry clay
Turning sinners into saints.
Hallelujah

And I will always sing your praise
Here on earth and ever after
For you've shown me heaven’s my true home
When it's all been said and done
You're my life when life is gone...

Our Lord’s love for us is eternal. He has demonstrated it with His own life. As we live our life for Him, and allow His love to come through us, for those around us and beyond, we too will be able to say we have learned to love. That love that will remain for eternity.

“For God is not so unfair as to forget your work and the love you showed for him in your past service to his people — and in your present service too. However, we want each one of you to keep showing the same diligence right up to the end, when your hope will be realized; so that you will not become sluggish, but will be imitators of those who by their trust and patience are receiving what has been promised.” (Hebrews  6:10-12 Complete Jewish Bible)

Yeshua says, "This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you." (John 15:12-14 NKJV)

One thing will remain – God’s love for us, and that love we in turn share for God and people. Share some love today.

Something to think about.

Love you,
