I Understand Schindler - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

I Understand Schindler
Steve Martin

“All the others gave what they'll never miss; she gave extravagantly what she couldn't afford — she gave her all."  (Mark 12:44, THE MESSAGE)

Oskar Schindler was a German industrialist and a member of the Nazi Party who is credited with saving the lives of 1,200 Jews during the Holocaust by employing them in his enamelware and ammunitions factories in occupied Poland and the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. He was born April 28, 1908, in Svitavy, Czech Republic, and died October 9, 1974, in Hildesheim, Germany. (Wikipedia)

His grave is included among those of the Righteous Gentiles, in a cemetery upon Mount Zion in Jerusalem, Israel. Seeing the tomb covered with many, many memorial stones, as is a customary tradition for Jews visiting family and friends’ grave sites, to leave their mark of visitation with a stone, indicates the love and respect he still receives to this day. (*see photos below.) I have seen the cemetery many times, and his gravesite among many. It causes one to strive even more in committing to fulfill one’s destiny in the Lord’s commission He has given each one of us.

Seeing the movie Schindler’s List in 1993, depicting his final years in saving the lives of those 1,200 Jews during the Holocaust murderous years of World War II, caused a deep stirring personally in my life. I believe I can speak the same for many others who sat in those American and worldwide theaters, witnessing these dramatic salvations. (Schindler was portrayed by Liam Neeson, with the movie directed by Steven Spielberg (a Jew). The production won the Academy Award for Best Picture of the year.)

Finally, after these 26 years since the movie has been released, I am now understanding Schindler more fully. I get it. I “see the big picture” more fully.

I realize the deliberate passion he had, the divine purpose he lived, and the definite plans the Lord gave him to fulfill. Oskar Schindler was given a mission, and comprehending it fully or not, he gave all he had within and without himself, to the very last. He finished the race. He saved others from certain death.

The Apostle Paul, himself laid hold of, apprehended, by the Lord Jesus, Yeshua the Messiah, wrote this regarding who you and I are, in our respective calling.

“For just as there are many parts that compose one body, but the parts don’t all have the same function; so there are many of us, and in union with the Messiah we comprise one body, with each of us belonging to the others. But we have gifts that differ and which are meant to be used according to the grace that has been given to us.

If your gift is prophecy, use it to the extent of your trust; if it is serving, use it to serve; if you are a teacher, use your gift in teaching; if you are a counselor, use your gift to comfort and exhort; if you are someone who gives, do it simply and generously; if you are in a position of leadership, lead with diligence and zeal; if you are one who does acts of mercy, do them cheerfully.” (Romans 12:4-8, Complete Jewish Bible)

Each of us has been given an eternal purpose. Each of us were created, specifically molded in our mother’s womb (not to be murdered before delivery) to walk in the Creator’s awesome realm. We are not just living here on planet earth for our own happiness and pleasure. We have been wonderfully created and given a high calling, a diving strategy, a significant opportunity to live out that which we too have been apprehended for.

As Paul again says, and we certainly can too, “Not as though I had already attained, either were
already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:12-14, KJV)

Oskar Schindler finished the race. He took what he had been given and gave it his all. In the end, the deep, deep cry in his heart was to see more and more Jews freed from being herded onto the death camp trains, that would take them to the murderous gas chambers. He gave everything he had. And yet he so wanted to give more.

We too have a Savior. He Himself gave everything He had, coming from His throne in heaven, to give His life, even to the point of death on a horrible tree, experiencing a crucifixion of pain and suffering for you and I, to give us salvation and freedom, for eternal life with Him in heaven.

Don’t waste the life you have been given here on your own pleasure and self-seeking love. Give your life for the eternal purpose for which you too are to accomplish, in laying it down for others. You have a tremendous part in the salvation of others, giving and sharing the saving knowledge of the Gospel, through the life you live.

Your calling is great. The goal is there. It will take much effort and commitment to reach it. Even as Schindler gave all he had; even as Yeshua Ha Mashiach, the Ultimate and Only Savior of the world, gave all He had; so, we too must give all that we have.

But the eternal reward is so much worth it all.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

Reconnecting; Be Happy; His Love - Now Think On This messages by Steve Martin, Love For His People, Inc.

Jan. 28, 2019 (Early in the morning.)
Charlotte, North Carolina USA

Greetings family, friends, and believers.

The Holy Spirit is moving in the earth. Just look around as the shaking is occurring. The Lord God is doing it! It is He Who sits on His throne orchestrating His perfect plan and purpose in these end of days. No one or nothing will stop Him from accomplishing His perfect outworking. We are a privileged people who get to see it happening and be a part of it.

Coming together and reconnecting is certainly near the top of God the Father's heart list. And thus my message Reconnections. It is happening. was written. Feel like you have been wandering for several years? Maybe still are, and getting tired of it? He is gathering together the Jews in Israel, and the Body of Christ in the nations. Both at this same time. At first glance, these look separate and apart from one another, but are they? I don't think so.

Be Happy! was written in response to all the self-seeking, self-love that has consumed the nations. New York State's recent murder permission act is an eye-opener for many. I dare you to read it. No, I double-dare you!

And finally (unless you are really spiritual and want to read my fourth one written in the last two weeks also) there is Power of Your LoveIs there anything that keeps coming back in your life, which seems to be a constant battle, though you fight as hard as you might? There is an answer to that. Check this one out.

And as I said above, if you are really spiritual, and can spend another two minutes reading another message before it is time to go on your way, I offer Ugly Toads. But that may be a little too much for you. Or not. Go ahead. Read it.

We all need encouragement as we look around and see the darkness creeping over the nations. But the Light of the World is our hope. He is the Lifter of our heads and the Redeemer to all who call upon the Name of the Lord Jesus. Give thanks today that you know Him, and He knows you.

Be blessed with ahava (love) and shalom (peace),

P.S. I pray you have a good week. As for me, I am looking forward to our ministry's board meeting Feb. 9, 2019. With 17 now on it, it almost seems like it will be instant church! (We gather from several churches and seek unity.) Please pray for us, as we put our hearts together in seeking our Lord Jesus.

And hey! We support Messianic Jews and congregations in Jerusalem, Tiberias and more in Israel. Please consider a contribution today for this ongoing, monthly support this ministry gives to them. Put LOVE FOR HIS PEOPLE on your ministry giving list! (USA tax receipts are mailed out within the week of receiving each gift in our home office.)

Now Think On This
In these last days (which I firmly believe we are in) the Lord Himself is bringing back His people from all over the world, those who have been living outside of Israel, the Diaspora, to their promised land. It is known as aliyah. Jews are returning to that which is rightfully theirs.

Our ministry, Love For His People, is a strong supporter of this movement, this regathering.

The Bible is clear about how the Almighty God fulfills His purposes and plans. If you want to know what He is doing in the Church, the Body of Christ, then watch what He is doing in and for Israel. As He brings His people back together there, to serve and fulfill His end-time prophetic words, so too He is bringing back His broken body, those who also have been scattered, the Church here on earth.

He is reconnecting these that have been separated over these many, many years. The Lord is the main Reconnector. From the first century, when the scattering occurred in 70 A.D. from Jerusalem, Israel, through our time we are now living in, nothing anymore will keep His broken body from coming back together.

Watching the Jews return to Israel is an awesome scene. Knowing many there that have already is even better.

So too it is so with believing Gentiles. I see it happening. I see the Lord, as if conducting a very large symphony, orchestrating the move of this person and that person, from all nations of the world, being joined back to the Life Source, bringing about His end of days plans that were long ago prophesied.

“For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:25-27, NKJV)

Early on in my Christian walk, during my high school days, in fact, I learned that if the world is going one way, then those who call upon the Name of the Lord, believers, are best to go the other. Follow the crowd and you got lost. Choose the opposite walk, and the best reward came.

There always seems to be a fad. Dress this way. Talk that way. Be cool, be noticed, be the one that the opposite sex loves to be around. And in order to get to that point, concentrate on yourself, your advancement, your body above all. For, after all, you are the most important, right? Doesn’t God want you to be happy? Aren’t you meant to seek the good, especially for yourself? Is it not true that if you are to be happy, then you must seek after becoming the best, the brightest, the most sought after in terms of popularity and all that is good in the world?

Is this not the purpose of our being in existence? To be happy? To be “me” in all my glory?
And where has our society gone these days? Many are into the “self-help” concept, whether they know it or not. If you carefully look around, what is the utmost focus of almost everything coming at you? “It is all about you.”

“Do this for you.” “Achieve that for yourself.” “Get the most out of life. You deserve it.”

Me, me, me. (Continue reading: Be Happy)

"Everyone likes an adventure. Travel the world. See the sites. Live the dream. Steve Martin's "Now Think On This" messages provide you with inspiration to walk the journey that God intends for you to have. Enjoy the short chapters as you receive encouragement for your life-long adventures."

The Lord impressed upon me that He is a God of adventures, and delights in sharing them with us. He does not consider the Christian walk to be one of boredom.

It takes courage to step out in faith, to do that which is not obvious in the natural but would be very obvious if we saw with spiritual eyes. Our faith must be expressed by doing without knowing the results while trusting that He does, and will provide for us to complete our assignments.

Our God calls us to walk in the adventures He has. We must keep looking to and relying on Him to direct, provide, and encourage on the way. It does take courage to walk in adventures. He gives us the strength to complete the long journey we travel.
