“As For Me and My House" - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

“As For Me and My House"

"Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. "If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." (Joshua 24:14-15, NASU)

As I have walked around the city of Charlotte, North Carolina this month, it is prevalent all over – in public shopping centers, movie theatres, on social media and local news. The word “pride” is being pushed in our faces and celebrated as the new accepted way of life.

The biblical and historical symbol of the rainbow, historically given by the Living God as a promise to Noah and all mankind since, to never destroy the earth again by water, is being lifted up as the new symbol of “freedom”.

Let it be known loud and clear, that “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” He, Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, is the only Way, the only Truth, the only Life. We will not be deceived and fall to the agenda of others.

If I don’t stand against the lies and deception, my grandkids won’t know the Truth. Therefore, I will, and am, standing in the face of this onslaught.

As is also popularly said in sports venue around the country, when the other team comes into town wanting to claim the victory, “NOT IN MY HOUSE!”

“The wisdom of the sensible is to understand his way, But the foolishness of fools is deceit. Fools mock at sin, but among the upright there is good will. The heart knows its own bitterness, and a stranger does not share its joy.
The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish. There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
Even in laughter the heart may be in pain, and the end of joy may be grief.
The backslider in heart will have his fill of his own ways, but a good man will be satisfied with his. The naive believes everything, but the sensible man considers his steps.
A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is arrogant and careless. A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, and a man of evil devices is hated.
The naive inherit foolishness, but the sensible are crowned with knowledge. The evil will bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.” (Proverbs 14:18-19, NASU)
The evil and wicked acts of men and women who seek to parade and flaunt their “freedom” in our streets will not prevail. This country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, and on those we will stand. Not on the false agenda of the few who seek to destroy our biblical way of life.
Politicians, teachers, even so-called “pastors” who spread non-biblical words of death will be held accountable for their actions.

There is a God. He rules in the heavens, and on earth.
No one will cast aside His rule and authority without paying the eternal price.
As for me and my house, WE will serve the Living God. We will not fall to the lies and deception of those who lift up and push in our face another god.

“The Lord is near to all who call upon Him,
To all who call upon Him in truth.
He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;
He will also hear their cry and will save them.
The Lord keeps all who love Him,
But all the wicked He will destroy.
My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
And all flesh will bless His holy name forever and ever.”
Psalm 145:18-21, NASU

Love or War? Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Love or War?

“A wise man is strong, and a man of knowledge increases power. For by wise guidance you will wage war, and in abundance of counselors there is victory. (Proverbs 24:5-6, NASU)

A well-known and highly respected prophetic teacher, Rick Joyner of Morningstar Ministries, said a few years ago something to the effect that we will be people of war. At the time I didn’t want to hear that. We are called to be people of love, right? Love is all you need, yes?

It had long been a conflict within me as to what is the correct Christian’s response to the evil that continually rises up around us, whether it be on social media, the national news broadcasts, the “higher learning” of our educational system, and even within the entertainment sectors of our society that preach, yes preach, their ideology of secularism, anti-family, and anti-Semitism on the big screen and the little ones most people carry in their pockets. It even shows up in the so-called “Disney-style” family movies, which more and more are just the outreach tool used by proponents of witchcraft and “other lifestyle” propaganda.

So, do we just let these self-expansions of the “we will love you the way you are” attitude continue, and let all things around and abound as “whatever will be will be”? Or do we stand on biblical principles and fight back? And if so, how do we fight back?

Do we love and not make war? Or do we love, and yet at the same time make war.

Throughout Scripture our God shows His hand in how He deals with those who embrace evil and reject His rule and principles.

He clearly speaks His Word, even to His own chosen people, when they failed to follow His commands. It reads in Psalm 106:34-39, “They did not destroy the peoples, as the Lord commanded them, but they mingled with the nations and learned their practices, and served their idols, which became a snare to them.

They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons (i.e. abortion and infanticide – added), and shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land was polluted with the blood.

Thus, they became unclean in their practices, and played the harlot in their deeds.” (NASU)

Often, when a people or nation turn from the ways of the Living God, He removes them. Usually, that is accomplished by war or natural destruction. (And it isn’t “Mother Nature” at work, but the God of all creation.)

Jesus, the God of Love, Himself said this, as recorded in Luke 12:49-53, "I have come to cast fire upon the earth; and how I wish it were already kindled!  But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!  Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division; for from now on five members in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law." (NASU)

If the God of Love Himself came as the Son of Man to bring division, to divide the right from the wrong, should we just sit idly by and let the wrong become as the “new right”?

I don’t think so.

In my theology, which comes from the Word of God, on which I will continually stand, I will constantly believe both the Old and New Testaments (as Christians call these Scriptures.) I will do as Joshua proclaimed he would do.

I am not going to keep silent and let anyone else tell me what gender my kids are, nor my grandkids; nor will I shut my mouth, and keep from writing these messages and stop sharing the Gospel truth because they just might offend or step on another’s toes; or out of threatened retaliation, fear or false love.

Powerful prayer will protect our homes, while at the same time tear down strongholds that have been allowed to build up around us, due to our own laziness, self-interest and lackadaisical attitudes adapted in decades gone by. Action in the prayer closet while taking action on the front lines - we must be doing both.

After putting on the full armor of God, both to defend the onslaught against us, and to go on the offensive to be overcomers as we are called to be, we must battle and take back the land stolen from us.

Don’t allow the enemy of our spirit, soul, and body continue to steal, destroy and kill that which we have held dear to our lives. We must stand strong, fight the good fight, and be on the offensive. We must speak the Truth louder, write the messages stronger, and live our lives with His God-given gifts and inspiration to proclaim His principles and reclaim this land, our cities, and this nation.

The enemy isn’t quitting or just lie down. The one who hates us is not going to play fair, nor give up. If we continue to sit back and do nothing, we will lose that which others have lived and died for.
Jesus died for us. Others have followed in His footsteps, because of their faith and commitment to Him and His purposes. We very well may be called upon to do the same.

I have already made the decision that I will do just that. I will love, but I will also make war.

Us 4 and No More - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Us 4 and No More
Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“Listen carefully: Unless a grain of wheat is buried in the ground, dead to the world, it is never any more than a grain of wheat. But if it is buried, it sprouts and reproduces itself many times over. In the same way, anyone who holds on to life just as it is destroys that life. But if you let it go, reckless in your love, you'll have it forever, real and eternal.

"If any of you wants to serve me, then follow me. Then you'll be where I am, ready to serve at a moment's notice. The Father will honor and reward anyone who serves me.”
John 12:24-26, THE MESSAGE)

Want to know the difference between a Christian and one who calls themselves a Christian?

Easy answer. It is the one who does what Jesus says to do. It is to follow Him. Doing what He said to be doing.

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” (Matthew 16:24-26, NASU)

Lest I lose you before I finish writing the last line, knowing being told what to do doesn’t normally sit right with many people, I’ll put it this way. If you say you are a Christian, and the outside world looking on can’t tell a difference between you and your neighbor, then are you really?

I’m “just saying”, as ones like to say way down here in the South where I currently live.

Let me ask you this question? Does your prayer life consist of “Bless us four and no more” as you
run out the door, after getting dressed of course (with or without the makeup), having already checked your Facebook, emails, morning news on TV, and making sure the hot coffee doesn’t spill in your Starbuck’s travel mug (which still amazes me seeing the long line-ups at each drive-up window, ready to put out another $3-$4 for the specialty coffee each day.)

Now before you think I am being judgmental, which I am not, is this your normal routine, or have you really given the Lord, whom you call “Lord”, more than a quick “Remember me and my three” today, as you rush on with all the other stuff yet to do, before the sun rises?

Again, “Just saying.”

Do we really think we can have “the mind of Christ” if we have already filled it with the opinions, judgments, lies and fake news that are thrown at us daily, without having an opposite point of view, the Lord’s, to rightly judge what we are hearing and seeing? Without communicating with Him already in prayer, for discernment, understanding, and increasing in the knowledge of Him and His ways, can we really sling off all that is thrown at us?

“These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For "who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:13-16, NKJV)

For example, when it comes to just two of the basic Christian disciplines - to pray and read God’s Word on a regular basis - even as Jesus (Yeshua) did, and taught His disciples to do - do we?

Recently I have given myself more in obeying the words of the Bible, which the Apostle Paul wrote to his disciple, Timothy, to specifically pray in regards to our government, and spiritual, leaders.
“The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.” (1 Timothy 2:1-2, THE MESSAGE)

IF you are an American, or living in this country one way or another, as Christians who actually read the Instruction Book (also commonly known as the Bible), we are given the command to pray for our leaders. Personally, I didn’t obey that commandment regarding the previous president. I should have. But I sure do pray for our president now. And I pray that those who oppose him, as he continues to do great things, will themselves be removed from office, or at least silenced in what spews out of their mouths. (I am thankful for DVRs – we fast-forward whenever the opposing party speaks. It is just too many lies.)

Be sure to pray for Israel too. They are utmost on the Lord's heart, and we are called to stand with them.

I won’t be a “sweet and quiet” Christian anymore as if the gentle ones get the job done. Jesus is our example. He spoke the truth. He lived truth. He called for the hurt to come, and those needing a Savior, to come and follow Him. The others He rightly told where to go.

He is doing the same today.

You call yourself a Christian? Then along with me, live as if you mean it. Joshua did, and he did what he proclaimed. “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”

"Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." (Joshua 24:14-15, NKJV)

The Lord is looking for those few good men, women, and children who will hear and obey. Be one. More so then just praying, “us four and no more.”

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).
