Teams – It Takes Two or More - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Teams – It Takes Two or More
Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“In the Antioch congregation were prophets and teachers — Bar-Nabba, Shim‘on (known as “the Black”), Lucius (from Cyrene), Menachem (who had been brought up with Herod the governor) and Sha’ul. One time when they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Ruach HaKodesh said to them, “Set aside for me Bar-Nabba and Sha’ul for the work to which I have called them.” After fasting and praying, they placed their hands on them and sent them off. So these two, after they had been sent out by the Ruach HaKodesh, went down to Seleucia and from there sailed to Cyprus.” Acts 13:1-4 CJB

Movies get our attention as much or more than any other image we may see. They can convey a message and impart a vision like no other media.

I like movies. I like to sit in the theatre, watching the big screen, being captivated by the action and emotion for that hour and a half, and then think about it later, reliving some of that which I experienced.

Movies have impact on people. That is why so many of us go to them, or watch on TV and on our iPads if we have one. They get us “out of here” and take us to a place we may not have been before, or will never get to go to in this life.

Sports can have that same emotional and lasting impact in our situations. We have our favorite players and teams, whom we give ourselves to, sometimes with our whole hearts. Growing up for me it was the Minnesota Twins Major League Baseball team that I cheered on. For my good wife Laurie, well, it was the Chicago Cubs. (I will just leave it at that and continue to write on.)

When you combine a good human life story with a sports theme, you really can have an impact on people, producing an inspiring movie. I will always remember the heart moving film Rudy, about the Notre Dame Fighting Irish college football player, getting his one moment to have his lifetime dream fulfilled. Both my Dad and I, and later my two sons, could relate to much of what Daniel Eugene "Rudy" Ruettiger grew up with, and desired.

Ruettiger's story was told in that 1993 film, which starred actor Sean Astin in the title role as Rudy. The film was written by Angelo Pizzo, directed by David Anspaugh and produced by Rob Fried, both of whom were involved in Hoosiers. Ruettiger appeared in a cameo as a fan behind Rudy's father and brother during the final scene. Dad and I later met Rudy a few years before Dad died of lymphoma cancer in July, 2000. It had been a real desire of his to do so.

Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger – 1975 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Most sports we cheer on are of teams, where two or more players, whether men or women, combine their skills, work together after much practice time, and compete against another team for the joy of winning and the winning prize. They can achieve something that those going at it alone will not. They accomplish victory together. If they have tried doing it by themselves, it would not have been possible to get it done. Two or more contending for the same goal indeed are better than one. Teammates get it done.

In these last days, as He did in the first century, I believe the Lord is forming teams to accomplish His end time purposes. He is not wanting one man or one woman going at it alone, knowing they will fall and fail. We have been created to live and work together as a team, on a team. Something more, something greater happens when we do so, rather than going at it alone.

Rudy could not have had that moment of glory out there on the football field battling against the opposing group of 11 players by himself. Because his teammates were there and did their individual parts, he was able to fulfill his dream, resulting in that dramatic action that made a good movie, and touched lives for so many more years.

I want to impact this world with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. I want to give myself to accomplishing the dreams He has placed in my heart, as part of His eternal plan and purpose in the nations. I know you do too.

The Lord is putting together His teams to get the job done. He is connecting bone to bone, joints and ligaments, which will provide the means and support to move, to go, whereby we will get the job done. As my wife and I connect with a team, our gifts given to us to serve others with will be joined with those having their gifts, which together as a team will change lives forever in the nations.

May your heart’s purpose be to connect, to find those you are to team with, and as one fulfill the calling you and those you walk with will have in His wide Kingdom realm. Be a team player.

Birthing & Raising - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Birthing & Raising
- Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“Who do you think Paul is, anyway? Or Apollos, for that matter? Servants, both of us — servants who waited on you as you gradually learned to entrust your lives to our mutual Master. We each carried out our servant assignment. I planted the seed, Apollos watered the plants, but God made you grow.” 1 Cor. 3:5,6 THE MESSAGE

When we celebrated our 4th year ministry anniversary of Love For His People on April 10, 2014, I was asked the question, “Do people really know what you do? They know you love Israel and bless the Jews worldwide, but how will they know to support your efforts if they don’t realize what that is? Maybe if you supported an orphanage in a foreign country, or evangelized, that would help?”

Hmmm. I later gave it some further thought and prayer, asking the Lord how to best communicate the vision and purpose given to this work He has given us to do, and others who come along side. It is true that if people do not understand the mission of an organization, they won’t support it.

In giving more understanding as to how the Body of Christ operates, each of us has a purpose, a specific calling that we have been apprehended by Him to fulfill. If we each do our part, His Church, the Body of Messiah Yeshua (Jesus Christ) will function as we are meant to do.

As the Scripture written above says, some have been called and gifted to plant the seeds, while others will water the plants that have then sprouted up. Each is to accomplish the task they have been assigned, as all the time God is making His Body grow.

Do all evangelize, in order to bring others through the birth canal into the Kingdom? In a sense, yes, just by the fact that we who are saved have His Holy Spirit working in and through us - we may see a new birth as we lead others to Christ (Messiah). But as their main part, I think not.

Do all have the calling of teaching, once that new born has come forth and now needs daily care and instruction? Not necessarily so. Though indeed, some will have been placed in that position to carefully nurture and provide for the young ones, while others have been gifted to bring encouragement and training, using a different gift of the Holy Spirit that has been given to them.

Let me explain then what this ministry has been established to do.

As for the work of Love For His People, one of the main ministry’s objectives is to share the heart of the Lord God of Israel for His chosen people, the Jews, with others. With our leadership, and having others share in this purpose, we have been called to teach the Gentiles in the nations that the apple of His eye, the Jews, have been given the Promised Land, all of which surrounds Jerusalem and beyond. It is their rightful inheritance. We must stand with them as they come back to the Land, Israel.

Our purpose also includes giving people the opportunity to join alongside us in supporting these in the Land with humanitarian financial aid, as the time it takes for them to get established takes needed assistance.

In addition, with our social media postings, we regularly provide further understanding of the eternal truths written in the Scriptures (Old and New Testaments). Our firm stand on His Word gives resistance against those lies cast on the earth, while at the same time advancing His Kingdom’s realm in the nations with His truth.

Our annual trips to Israel, Ahava Adventures, gives opportunity for those who come along with us, whether they are from our generation of the 50+, or the generation of our kids, days to spend with friends in Israel. Relationships established through these times together will continue to grow in importance as we move forward.

Books written by myself further share the vision of Love For His People, while at the same time have given encouragement to the readers in their own faith walk. Sharing my Ahava Love Letters and Now Think On This messages have brought faith, hope and love to people in many countries.

We ask you to consider joining with us in this work, through your financial gifts. We also ask you to support our work through the purchase of my books, which also gives provision for this work to advance further.

Thank you for your consideration, as we together bless those who have given the nations so much - especially our Jewish born Savior Jesus Christ, and for the work they have done through the centuries recording His eternal written Word, the Bible, for us to know Him.

Please consider sending a contribution today.

Ahava and shalom,

Learning To Prophesy - Now Think On This Steve Martin

Learning To Prophesy
Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“I wish you would all speak in tongues, but even more I wish you would all prophesy. The person who prophesies is greater than the person who speaks in tongues, unless someone gives an interpretation, so that the congregation can be edified.” 1 Corinthians 14:5 CJB

The apostle Paul taught in 1 Corinthians about the gifts of the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh). In his teaching, he outlined the nine supernatural gifts, and gave instruction on how to grow in the use of them. Some would say that the gifts, miracle and other supernatural acts of God finished in the first century, after Scriptures were written. Many have been taught that we do not need them anymore, as we have the complete Word of God in the Bible.

Really? God stopped speaking after 100 A.D.? Did you tell Him that today?

I for one am very grateful for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues and other gifts He has given to His people, for encouragement, instruction, direction and all else that the Lord God of Israel wants to do and say. Today.

In our local church, MorningStar Ministries, led by Rick Joyner, with many other men and women, there are conferences held usually once a month, if not more. I went to one entitled the “50+ Joshua and Caleb Generation”, with John Boneck, one of the pastors, heading it up. As you may have gotten in the title, for those of us over the age of 50 attended.

Different training sessions were offered over the three day gathering. I had selected the Prophetic Training Session, desiring to grow in one of the gifts the Lord has given me, and many, many others who attended those sessions. Just common people like you and I.

Here is what I had received and written down in regards to the 2nd session on that Friday morning. (I used a vacation day from my accounting job to attend.)

Setting: During the Prophetic Training Session on Friday morning, April 4, 2014 at the 50+ Joshua & Caleb Generation Conference at MorningStar Ministries in Fort Mill, SC, we were given a sheet of paper with a place to write down a revelation received and the interpretation on it, on the front side, at the end of the first teaching of the two hour session. We were then instructed to put our name on the BACK side, which was blank. Then all the papers at our table (eight people were seated) were put in the middle of the table and shuffled for later, with the individual names placed down, so we didn’t know whose name was there.

At the end of this portion of the session, during which we were taught on how we can receive revelation, we were given one of the papers, not knowing whose name was on the other side. We prayed, and asked the Lord for a revelation for that “named, unknown to us” person. Once we received something, we were to write it down. The same thing was repeated after the one hour teaching portion of the session, on receiving interpretation, had followed.

Once both sessions were done, we were told to turn the paper over, find the name of the person on the back, and give it to them.

When I got the paper back that I had written my name on the back, now with writing on it from someone else at the table, here is what the person had written down. Again, they had no idea whose name was on the back, but had asked the Lord to give a revelation and interpretation.

In the revelation section they had written:

“Business anointing, gift of holy laughter. Teacher. Obstacles in your path – you take with a grain of salt. Hearing is believing in your relationship with the Lord. Sour – there is something that you have endured that has left a sour taste in your mouth.”

Then in the interpretation section:

“You have a presence on the stage that God has put you on. You use joy to command the stage. You do not show fear as to bolster those you are talking to and others that share your job  - that instill the wrong ideals from their platform. They leave you sour but you do try to teach your peers your way.”

Later I found out that the one who wrote it was a man named Mark Yow from Wilmington, NC. I met him and he helped me read his writing. I told his words were 100% right! I also briefly shared about my accounting job uptown Charlotte and who I worked with.

I also mentioned that the words “business” and “teacher” were right on.

The Lord desires to speak to people all the time in our day. He is sharing His heart to those with ears to hear - to encourage, bless and give direction. I appreciate prophetic ministry!

May you seek the Lord too, for “Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMashiach) is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 NASU. He wants you to know Him even more.

Gifts - You Have One To Share - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Gifts - You Have One To Share
Now Think On This
by Steve Martin

“But we have gifts that differ and which are meant to be used according to the grace that has been given to us. If your gift is prophecy, use it to the extent of your trust; if it is serving, use it to serve; if you are a teacher, use your gift in teaching; if you are a counselor, use your gift to comfort and exhort; if you are someone who gives, do it simply and generously; if you are in a position of leadership, lead with diligence and zeal; if you are one who does acts of mercy, do them cheerfully.” Rom. 12:6-8 CJB

A package arrived via UPS the other day. I didn’t know what was in it. I wasn’t expecting anything, so when I saw it I thought, “Yes, a gift!” What a simple joyful moment it was.

We all like gifts – for our birthday, during the eight days of Hanukkah, at Christmas time (12 days is nice!), and especially the unexpected ones between St. Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day. Getting a gift shows someone has thought of us, cares for us, and wants to put a big smile on our face. Yes, I like that.

Our Lord Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMashiach) delights in giving gifts. He has a purpose in doing it too. When He gives a gift, it usually comes at an ordained time in our life. He wants to impart in us His love for us, and to then further express through us His love for those we will be touching, because He Himself wants to touch them. With His hope, faith, encouragement and joy, He will through us.

What kind of gifts does the Lord give? The verses from Romans above lists a few – prophetic words spoken, serving, teaching, comforting and exhorting, giving, leading, having mercy for another. They are all action words. We are given gifts so we can share them with others. Always with the purpose to demonstrate His love for His people He has created.

The world talks about being happy. It would seem, according to all the images and words that hit us, that our goal in life is “to be happy”. Sure, being sad isn’t fun. But is “being happy” the real purpose of our existence? To live for our own fulfillment, pleasure, entertainment? Often it would appear that way.

But Jesus says that as we lay down our lives for others, using the gifts He has given us in serving them, that the true desires of our heart will come about, and JOY will result. Joy comes as we bless others, and seeing them experience the real life the Lord intends for each. Giving out gives back.

You have a spiritual gift. You probably have several. They may have been imparted to you at an early age, awaiting for the time when you would begin using them for the sake of others. As you get training in their functions and how they can best effectively operate through you, the joy you bring to others will have an eternal effect on them, and also in you.

If you don’t know what your gifts are, I can recommend several good books to you. And heh, maybe you will get one in the mail or UPS, as a surprise package. When it comes, open it up, give thanks, and let His Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) begin to use you to be a blessing to those He wants you to touch.

And speaking of touch, you’ll be surprised whom He will send you to, in order to share your gift. His heart will grow in yours as you do.

Now think on this,

Steve Martin
Founder
Love For His People. Inc.

P.S. By the way, that UPS gift was a book from a friend. I like books. This one was extra special, coming from them.

In the 7th Year by Steve Martin

In the 7th Year
by Steve Martin

“This charge, son Timothy, I put to you, in keeping with the prophecies already made about you, so that by these prophecies you may fight the good fight, armed with trust and a good conscience.” 1 Tim, 1:18-19 Complete Jewish Bible)

I am a firm believer in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Since my own Baptism in the Holy Spirit in my senior year of high school (Roman Catholic - Columbus High School in Waterloo, IA in 1973), I have received, and practiced, several gifts given by the Ruach HaKodesh (Hebrew). First I had received the gift of speaking in tongues, then words of knowledge, along with the gift of prophecy and the interpretation of prophecy. Sharing and growing in the practice of these spiritual gifts, with several others over these years since then, has been a joy.

Seeing the gifts in operation has been both a faith builder personally and a testimony of the goodness and faithfulness of the Lord Yeshua (Jesus). Healings, deliverance from evil spirits, words of wisdom and knowledge, and the gifts of administration have been practiced by many leaders I have served with in my Christian walk. I do not doubt that these are as real and needed in our time as they were in the first century by the first believers in Yeshua.

On Saturday, Feb. 9, 2007, a few of us had gathered in a friend’s house in Charlotte, NC. Robbie Phillips, from the Columbia, SC area, had driven the hour and a half north to minister to us. He had a widely known prophetic ministry. After first meeting him about five years earlier, and seeing him minister often since, I had a high level of trust in what he spoke to people using his spiritual gift. On several occasion I myself was encouraged from a spoken word of prophecy to me directly.

That night my wife Laurie and I led the group in worship, followed by a word from the Word from Robbie. I don’t remember what he shared during that time, but when the ministry in prophecy began, the tape recorder was ready, and the record button was pushed for every word given to those receiving this ministry. The tape was then given to them to take home, listen too, pray over, and trust the Lord for His timing in its understanding and fulfillment.

I was genuinely hoping to receive a word from the Lord myself. I was at that time in the position of Director of the Vision For Israel USA ministry office (founded by Barry and Batya Segal from Israel). Even those in leadership need to hear a directive from the Lord. Again, I truly appreciate the prophetic gift, and was about to get one from the Lord’s servant that night.

The word I received seven years ago (as of this writing on Feb. 25, 2014) I am now seeing it come to pass. I can share it verbatim now because, as a practice, I have always had recorded and transcribed words I received, or taken extensive notes while the words were given These are stored in several three-ring binders, from 1987 through today. I re-read them often, even as Timothy was reminded by Paul to do, as in the verses at the beginning of this writing.

Robbie Phillips

Here is what Robbie Phillips spoke to me:

“We call for the blessings of God. Everything he puts his hands to, bless. Everything he puts his hands to, bless, in Jesus’ name.

It seems to me in your work – talk about plowing – brother it seems to me that you have been plowing and plowing and plowing and plowing and plowing and plowing. And there is a verse in Haggai. In Haggai it is in the negative sense but in your case it is in the positive sense, where the word of the prophet was that you have sown much but have harvested little.

And it seems to me that in the ministry that you have been in the last few years, that you have sown far more than what you have seen coming back. But it’s almost like as I see you are going down, like you have one of the old time plows and you have an oxen or a mule or something ahead of you, and here you are, just getting it done day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year.

And it’s like I see this tremendously long row, and there is this man standing there, and he has a linen garment on, he’s right out of Ezekiel, and you recognize that this is an angelic visitor, and you stop, and he says, “Steve, look behind you. And you look back and you thought you had been plowing, but in the distance, where you had plowed a long time ago, whole forests have sprung up, and they are seeding new forests, and right behind you there has been an acceleration of what God is doing in your ministry, so that it’s not just a place where you just plowed, but there are already small trees that have sprung up even a few feet behind you.

And I see about you, I think it is just trickling in now, but I see the blessings of God beginning to come now, to the point where they are going to overtake you. It talks about when you are faithful to the Lord, and in the 7th year when the land has the Sabbath, that you don’t need to worry about plowing and harvesting in that 7th year, because what you sowed three years before, and the next year and the following year, will all seem to come in on top of you at one time, and you will have more than enough, in fact you will have so much coming in, that you will have to move out some of the old to bring the new in.

And I see the blessing of the Lord and it’s like you have been looking and trusting God for His faithfulness and you are going to see a demonstration of the faithfulness of God and not just in spiritual things but in financial ways and material ways.

Feb. 9, 2007 - Robbie ministering to Steve Martin

I see you, brother, you riding the high places of the earth with the Lord. I see you at 50,000 feet in jet liners just about all the time, flying all over the world. I see you a connector in the hand of the Lord. I see you being behind the scenes man, much of the time, major conferences and things like that, but the people that really know, the people that are the shakers and the movers in the Kingdom, the people that are well known, they’ll say that if you really want to meet a shaker and a mover, then you go and meet Steve Martin. He’s the guy behind the scenes, and he’s the guy that really gets things done.

And I see you being able to go to Scandinavian countries, European countries, the countries of the Far East, South America, all over the world, and I see you having contacts all over the world, and I see you being able to be used of the Lord to connect this person on one end of the world to a person over here and to bring things together in just the right timing of the Lord.

I see a tremendous amount of influence in your life, and I see that teaching anointing of your life. I see situation, particularly with leadership, it seems to me the Lord, just like with Elijah, suddenly “Boom!” out of nowhere Elijah appears, he wasn’t there one day and suddenly he’s the talk of the nation and I see the Lord just suddenly revealing you, revealing a teaching anointing, particularly for leadership and with leaders.

A lot of it having to do with the holiness of God, and your own personal, their own personal walk with God, the things that are near and dear to your heart, about right relationships with your wife and your family. How your relationships with that, how those dynamics work, things that really matter. The nitty gritty stuff that drive the kingdom. These things being those that are really near to your heart.

Being able to be a real impact to people who are key leaders. But I see that in a teaching format, even more so than your own personal encouragement and strengthening. I see the Lord giving you teachings to begin to bring to leadership, in due season.”

Several of these words have come to pass already since then. I have been to Israel five times since 2007. Many of these words have especially been coming into being this seventh year after that word came. I am trusting that many more of those words will also come into be, as I continue to give myself to the Lord’s Word, in faith and obedience.

Many of you reading this have received prophetic words. You have written them down, or had them recorded. Maybe you just have a few notes scribbled on a piece of paper tucked in your Bible. Almost forgotten, but still there.

I would encourage you to locate those words, written or recorded, and read/listen to them again. I would think you would be surprised at what was spoken to you.

There are many good teachers who have written books on the gift of prophecy. To name a few that I know or have known personally – Rick Joyner, Derek Prince, James W. Goll, Mahesh and Bonnie Chavda, Bob Mumford, and Larry Randolph have excellent books for your to read.

So I would encourage you to think on this,
