Closed Doors. Open Doors. - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Closed Doors. Open Doors.

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.” (Acts 16:10 NASU)

The Lord speaks to us in order to get us to where He needs us to be. If we listen, we will hear His voice, know His ways, and fulfill the purpose He has planned for us. Something good will come then.

Do you want Him to do that for you? Are you ready?

There have been many times when I was in a situation that I did not know what to do. I remember once needing to make a critical decision, which would affect not only myself, but my family, friends around us, and the employment I had at the time. It involved a move to another state, for a ministry job opportunity, but at the same time we would be leaving family and that life which we had been familiar with. Prayer, fasting, guidance from others, and the Holy Spirit speaking to me brought the right decision.

We moved. Thank you Jesus.

That may seem just a common situation to some, as many people move all the time. Some would think it was just a matter of time and we would have moved anyway. Or I would have figured it out by myself, given further research and just making the decision to do it, letting the results be as they would.

Maybe.

But then I wanted to depend on the Holy Spirit to guide our steps, so even in that common example I had learned to ask Him to help me. And as I continue to learn, as I am being trained, I will be able to hear His voice distinctly in those times when more difficult, pressing issues come my way, and I really need to know the way to go, and make the right choice. Life or death may depend on it.

In the Scripture given at the beginning of this message, Paul had been trusting the Lord for direction, seeking which way he was to go. He was willing to do what the Lord wanted him to do.  People were depending on him. His team needed his leadership, and he needed to get it right.

He thought it was one way, and so he proceeded, literally, down that road. But in his going, he was directed to another way, another place. It came in the form of a vision. Sometimes His word will come in a dream. Often He tells us in a simple thought in our mind, which hopefully we don’t dismiss as a random thought.

Whichever way He choices to guide, we must know it is Him, and respond in obedience. For Paul, later it became apparent that this was a critical step in his walk in taking the Gospel to the Gentiles, the non-Jews. If he had not been expecting guidance from the Lord, Europe may not have heard the Good News in this time they needed to.

Have you ever been in a place in your life where the doors seemed to keep getting shut? It didn’t work the way you had expected, hoped for, figured it would? Have you ever thanked the Lord later, after His perfect plan was then revealed to you down the road, and you realized how He stopped you from going that way, because He had something better up ahead, and you just had to wait a bit more?I am sure you have, just like it happened in Paul’s life. Just as it has already happened several times in my own, and also in yours.

“They passed through the Phrygian and Galatian region, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia; and after they came to Mysia, they were trying to go into Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not permit them; and passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas.

A vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing and appealing to him, and saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us." When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.” (Acts 16:6-10 NASU)

Paul was on the move. He had been wanting to go to Asia (modern day Turkey and surrounding lands), believing that was the next stop. But the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Jesus, did not permit Him. Why did that happen? How did that happen?

The time was not yet right for the one location. The Lord stopped Paul to reveal to him where he was to be. Supernaturally.

You too can hear the Lord’s voice. You too can learn to depend upon Him, to hear His quiet leading, for He is more than willing to speak to you. And when a door is shut as you start to walk through it, you will not get discouraged and give up, but will seek Him for the open door that He has on ahead for you. Through His Holy Spirit’s guidance He will show you the way.

Learning to hear and obey now will be vitally important for when we are put in a situation where knowing the right door to go through is the only one that will work. You may be trying to push open a closed door that would cause harm for you and those close to you, not realizing the right open door is just another step ahead.

Depending on the Holy Spirit to guide our steps, speak to us with His answers, and show us what is the open door, so we don’t try to break down the closed ones, is vital. In these days we are living in, you and I will need to know the way to go, how to go, and when to go.

Having that close relationship with the Lord and the Spirit of God speaking and leading will not be a luxury, but a necessity.

So think on this,

Zebra, Moon & Truck. What? - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Zebra, Moon & Truck.
What?

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” (1 Corinthians 2:13 NKJV)

It is a snow and ice day here in Charlotte, NC this January day. No uptown office open for work. Schools are shut down. After all, there is an inch of snow on the ground. I love how this global warming fantasy hits us! (But in all fairness to Charlotteans and many Carolinians, there is a ¼” of ice under the snow. Treacherous.)

So great! I can write another Now Think On This message!

This past week I attended the Wednesday night classes our church, MorningStar (Rick Joyner) in Fort Mill, SC, started up again with the new year. Being I want to have the Holy Spirit more develop the prophetic gift He has given me in some measure, with further training, I selected the “Prophetic 101” six week course. There was a good turnout. People are getting more hungry for His Word.It will be an hour of power.

After listening to a time of instruction, which I had familiarity with much of it already, the teacher asked us to pray a short moment at our tables. (We use tables rather than rows of chairs. Works good in getting to know others.) She said to then write down words or phrases that the Holy Spirit would give us, with us assuming and believing that we would then share them with another, as something to encourage them with.

So I did. (I was always a good student!)

As you will see in the photo, I wrote in one column down the left hand side of the page the following words:

Zebra, moon, blue, river, truck, anticipation, songbird, elation, joyful, and simplify.

What?

I had no idea what they meant, or stood for. I knew the Holy Spirit knew, for He normally either gives me a “prophetic word” as a picture in my mind whenever I receive a prophetic word, to start with, or just one word, as a word of knowledge (literally, right?)

Then the instructor told us that those words or phrases we had written down were actually for us. Oh really? Nice. Now I was certainly intrigued. This class will be good I thought.

As I usually do, I shared the words with Laurie once I got home, and being past my bedtime, dutifully went to bed. I would have to ponder over the words in the days to come.

Well, that was three days ago, and I had just initially put the words in my “Prophetic Words 2016” 3-ring binder, along with other personal ones from 2015. But this morning I took them out of the protective plastic sleeve and asked the Holy Spirit to give me further revelation. He did.

Zebra” to me represents black and white. I am a “black and white” guy. No gray in my character, or so I hope. Others, even my boss at Derek Prince Ministries back in the day, once told me I was “too black and white.” At the time he wasn’t congratulating me. (Basically, I was be asked to “expand” my viewpoint in a situation, as he saw it.) I still see things either black or white.

Moon” – well, I desire to reflect the Son. I hope we all have that heart’s desire within us, and that we shine in the darkness growing all around us.

“Blue” – the color blue in spiritual, prophetic words represents “prophetic”. I want to grow in that gift of the Holy Spirit. Thus the weekly Wednesday night class attendance for me.

River” – may the Holy Spirit’s “river of life” flow through us, bringing His refreshing and provision!

Truck” – moving in ministry should be our desire - to have that “vehicle” to hear and then obey the Lord as we move forward. I want a big truck!

Anticipation” – without hope our vision fails us. Without having an anticipation for what the good Lord has planned and purposed for us will leave us in discouragement, defeat, and ultimate death in our walk with Jesus (Yeshua).

Songbird” – one who is singing praise, proclamations and declarations of the Lord. Yes! Love it! May we have a heart of worship towards the Risen King of Israel and the nations.

Elation” – not sure on this one yet. Any advice out there?

Joyful” – a fruit of the Holy Spirit. May His joy be ours, so we can be overcomers in all that we will face today, and tomorrow, with His grace and power.

Simplify” – the times are coming when we will have to simplify our lives, not only for ourselves, but also our families. “The times they are a changin’” as Bob Dylan sang in 1964. Even more so in our time, and we best get ready for it. This won’t be our daddy’s lifestyle for that which lies ahead of us. We will have to cut back in our consumption of worldly goods, and be ready to share what we have more so with others.

Ask Him to speak to you today. He certainly wants to. Together we need more of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We need You daily Lord, so we can hear and obey.

More Lord. We need more of You.

So think on this, with the compassionate love of the Lord,

What Once Was Dead - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

What Once Was Dead

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“Not long after that, Jesus went to the village Nain. His disciples were with him, along with quite a large crowd. As they approached the village gate, they met a funeral procession — a woman's only son was being carried out for burial. And the mother was a widow. When Jesus saw her, his heart broke. He said to her, "Don't cry." Then he went over and touched the coffin. The pallbearers stopped. He said, "Young man, I tell you: Get up." The dead son sat up and began talking. Jesus presented him to his mother.

They all realized they were in a place of holy mystery, that God was at work among them. They were quietly worshipful — and then noisily grateful, calling out among themselves, "God is back, looking to the needs of his people!" The news of Jesus spread all through the country.” (Luke 7:11-17 THE MESSAGE)

The mom had lost her only son. Her husband had already died. That could have been many years ago. She may have had a daughter or two left in this world, but the one she was really counting on, her only son, whom she had put her faith in to provide support for her in her old age, was no longer. He too was now dead.

What you thought was dead, is dead. It had been here but now it was gone. Does that pretty much say something about something in your life?

You had a dream. Looks like it won’t ever happen. As far as you are concerned, it might as well be dead, and for all practical purposes it is gone for good.

You had a job. They cut the workforce in half. You were part of that half.

The one you loved in your youth, the one who promised to be there 10 years later, yes, even “until death do you part”…they left for another last summer. Now you have no one and are alone.

Just like that mother.

All around us we see death. The economy is collapsing. The society is decaying faster than we ever realized it would, or could. What we once thought was solid rock to stand on has already been shaken. The thrill of life is now buried in a grave. Dead and gone.

If Jesus wasn’t in the world, the world would have no hope. If Jesus doesn’t come now and walk by us, what was dead will remain dead. There is no resurrection power except His resurrection power. God is God, and He alone can restore the broken hearted; the lost and not yet found; the one on their way to the burial ground ready to be put six feet under.

But the good news is that Jesus, Yeshua, is alive and well on this planet earth. (Thank you Hal Lindsey for sharing your book in the 1970’s.)

“When Jesus saw her, his heart broke. He said to her, "Don't cry." Then he went over and touched the coffin. The pallbearers stopped. He said, "Young man, I tell you: Get up." The dead son sat up and began talking. Jesus presented him to his mother.” (Luke 7:13)

Jesus’ heart was broke. He had deep compassion for this mom. He knew that the one being carried away from her, this her only son, was dead and on his way to the final burial place. So He stopped and did something about it. For her sake.

Jesus has compassion for you. What you thought was dead, buried, and never to be seen again can be resurrected by Him. What you thought was finished, He will bring back, because He has compassion. Because He knows the need. Because He alone can bring back to life what was really dead.

Jesus is telling you, “Don’t cry.” Even as He spoke to the young man to get up, and then gave him back to his mother, He is speaking to you.

“Get up. It is not over!”

God is back, looking to the needs of His people. He will visit you in this time of need. Even as God the Father gave His only Son for you and me, He has come to you for life, and not death.

What once was dead will become alive again. Your Father in heaven, Who will touch you where you are at today, has that power, and love, to do that for you. And He will.

Call on His Name. Believe Jesus.

So think on this, with the compassionate love of the Lord,

Need a Dad? - Lesson Taught. Lesson Learned. - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Need a Dad?
- Lesson Taught. Lesson Learned.

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“And He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse." (Malachi 4:6, NKJV)

In prayer this morning the Lord reminded me of my dad, Louis James Martin, who graduated to his heavenly reward over 15 years ago at the age of 67, as a result of lymphoma cancer. I was giving thanks to my Father that my Dad had taught me practical things while growing up – like putting away the wrench tool after I used it, so it wouldn’t rust in the rain. You know – just practical, common sense things like that.

As I continued praying, I realized that many of the current generation we gave birth to don’t have a “real” Dad, or Mom, who were/are around to teach them even the basic, practical things in life. Sure, each of us had at least one parent in the beginning at the hospital, but not many then had a father or mother, who loved them enough to train them, encourage them, or show them how to live, after they left the place of their birth.

Few had a real mentor to teach them that they weren’t given life to just exist for themselves. But their life is to have life, a life with purpose, and understanding of the Creator’s plan, as they were created to be. Not only in the natural realm, but especially even more so in the spiritual one.

I mean – how many of this generation now in their teens, including even those hitting their 40’s, know what life is all about, other than playing video games for hours, standing in line for the latest hot movie a day before it opens, or getting drunk, taking drugs of all kinds, or having sex (with whomever), beginning in their middle school years?

Where are the fathers? Where are the mothers?

How far we have fallen.

The verse written just before Malachi 4:6, before the restoration of the fathers to their children, says it even more which is worth noting.

"Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord. He will restore the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, so that I will not come and smite the land with a curse." (Malachi 4:5-6, NASU)

Our Father in heaven clearly states that He is going to do something about the mess our kids, and their kids, are in. God the Father says He is going to send Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord. To do what? To restore the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.

As for me, I think that day is now. Certainly we are approaching the great and terrible day of the Lord, in these last days. Thus so, I am looking, I am expecting, I am believing the Lord is going to keep this promise, His promise to His people.

Will each child have a father and mother to train them, to teach them, to instruct them in the ways of the Lord? I don’t think so, but I do believe that those who are longing for such a one in their life will certainly be given one – a “parent” who will care for them. Teach them right from wrong. Black and white. No gray stuff here.

And for those of us who know what to do, how to do it, and when to do it – live as we were created to live– we will be given these ones to do just that. Show them the way they are to go.

I am glad my Dad taught me the basics of life. That wrench that I would have left out in the grass, after adjusting the motor on my lawnmower, would have rusted after the first rain. And then I would have had to buy another one, using money I would have spent on a nice hamburger and French fries.

I am very grateful for that, but even more so, how he taught me, by example, how to live right.

Lesson taught. Lesson learned. We have to do the same for those who need it now.

My eyes are open. My heart is ready, as a father, to teach those who want to be taught.

My heart has been turned to my children, and those who need a dad.

So think on this, in the love of Jesus,

Steve Martin

LOVE FOR HIS PEOPLE FEATURED BOOK

Paperback $5.99
Kindle: $1.99

Throughout our lives, God keeps His hand on our shoulders and nudges us on to more than what we could ever realize. I am excited to share how He did it this with me, and am confident mine will be a story you’ll be able to relate to.

As I unveil my story, think back to those times when you knew there was some¬thing more but you just couldn’t put your finger on it. You knew deep down that life wasn’t what the TV sitcoms portrayed it to be. In our souls there is the hope, the cry for more, that someday questions will be answered and promises fulfilled if we just kept plugging away at what we know to do.

In The Promise I share my 40 year journey with you, and show you that dreams do come true. Though Peter Pan isn’t real, the Lord, the One Who created us, certainly is, and He has a plan in place for each one of us. When you are done reading this story, my prayer is that you too will know more of that good plan and His purpose for you.

BOLDNESS - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

BOLDNESS

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“While they were still praying, the place where they were gathered was shaken. They were all filled with the Ruach HaKodesh, and they spoke God’s message with boldness.” (Acts: 4:31 Complete Jewish Bible)

Living these days in the USA would make you think that Christians have no say in what goes on in our country. If you listened to certain government “authorities”, daily newscasters, or the life-time educators in our public school system, you would think that believers no longer have any rights, that we are to “keep our opinions to yourself, in our church boxes on Sundays, and not say anything to anyone”, or we are stepping out of line. Oh really?

You know what will keep you from being bold? Believing the lie that as believers we are just to “love our neighbor”, keep to ourselves, and let whatever happens in our nation happen. After all, we don’t want to step on another person’s toes, or be looked upon as trouble makers, now do we?

Again, “Oh really?”

Where do you see that in your Bible?

Here is what my Bible says.

“So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done. For the man was over forty years old on whom this miracle of healing had been performed.

And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: "Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them, who by the mouth of Your servant David have said:

'Why did the nations rage, and the people plot vain things? The kings of the earth took their stand, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against His Christ.'

"For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done. Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus."

And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.” (Acts 4:18-31 NKJV)

That is what my Bible says. And yours too. Read it.

It brings me great courage, and boldness myself, to hear men and women of God stand up, speak the truth, and let it be known that our country, founded on the eternal godly principles that is was - those of Judeo-Christian – will not just lay down and let the lies of the ungodly tell us what is to be.

It gave me great courage when our church opened its doors during this election year to hold a forum, having one seeking the office of the President of the United States to come and speak his mind. If we would have listened to the lies of “politically correct” people, we would have just had a one hour “sing and hold hands” meeting.

Enough already.

Believers, those of us empowered by the Living God of Israel, are to get up, stand up, and proclaim the full Gospel that the Lord Jesus Christ commissioned us to do. That begins with the salvation message, but then we are to continue on in forth telling the whole truth.

And here is another part of His whole truth.

1.      Killing the unborn, God’s creation, is murder.
2.      “Marrying” the same sex is wrong.
3.      Fornication, pornography and adultery is not to be practiced and accepted in our society.
4.      Saying Bible-believing Americans have to keep “separated” from government involvement is not the truth.
5.      Letting Israel stand alone is going against God’s plan.
6.      Sitting back and watching Christians be slaughtered by Islamic killers is not acceptable.
7.      Letting America go to hell is not in the heart of our Lord.

The Living God of Israel, Whom has dramatically demonstrated His eternal love and goodness in bringing the Jews back to their Promised Land, is embolding His people in the other nations to stand up, let our voices be heard, and share the full Gospel of salvation and redemption.

We are the ones being called upon to do that which we have been apprehended to do.

I love it how the Scriptures proclaim this truth.

“But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ  and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:7-14, NKJV)

Now is the time. Now is the day. While it is still light, let us be about doing all that we have been apprehended for and given to do. The darkness is rapidly coming our way. In many cases it is smothering many already.

In His strength, wisdom and power, let’s get doing what He has commanded us to do.

So think on this, in the love of Jesus,

We are blessed when the ministry receives gifts to bless the families that we do in Israel, India, Pakistan and the hurting ones here in the USA. You also can share out of the abundance you have been given.

Love For His People, Inc. is a charitable, not-for-profit USA humanitarian organization started in 2010 to share the love of the Father in the nations.

If these messages minister to you, please consider sending a charitable gift of $5-$25 today, and maybe each month, to help us bless families we know in Israel, whom we consistently help through our humanitarian ministry. Your tax deductible contributions receive a receipt for each donation.
